Justice, liberty, equality and fraternity are not just words for students of Apeejay School, Saket in Delhi. As they recently commemorated the 74th Republic Day of the nation in the school, they made sure to tastefully decorate the premises with national flags and pictures of national heroes.

To this grand celebration, the school invited Commodore Pradeep Singh, a third generation military officer and a Nao Sena Medal winner as the Chief Guest. Along with him, members of the Parent-Teacher Association were present.

During the ceremony, the Chief Guest along with the Principal of the school, Dr Sujeet Eric Masih, unfurled the national flag. The school’s staff, teachers and students saluted the flag and remembered the glory and sacrifices of our martyrs. Soon after, Dr. Masih addressed the gathering. He shared the wisdom of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the man behind the foundation of the Indian Constitution. Besides, he provided a special mention to the beloved Founder-Chairman at Apeejay Education, Late Dr Stya Paul who was a renowned philanthropist and freedom fighter.

“We have to understand the sacred responsibility that the Constitution pledges upon each and every Indian irrespective of the diversity and intricate structure of the Indian society at large.”

-Dr. Sujeet Eric Masih, Principal, Apeejay School, Saket

Commodore Pradeep Singh then motivated the students with his inspiring and stimulating words. He also presented scholarship cheques to the meritorious students for excellence in academics. Alongside, certificates were distributed to the senior basketball team for their win and incredible performance in the zonals. Chhavi Sharma, a student of class 8 who ranked 7th in the CBSE National Yoga Championship was also lauded by the school.

This was followed by a heart-touching poem on the freedom struggle recited by one of the students. Further, the presentation of a beautiful medley of songs and exuberant dance performances captured the essence of our culture, freedom and independence. It added more colour to the celebration.

The day concluded with the school song and a Vote of Thanks. Students took home the message to abide by the Constitution and contribute towards the best interest of India.
