The unique tradition of tying of ‘rakhi’ between siblings took a new meaning at the Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar. The students of NSS Club of AIMETC celebrated green rakhi by tying the symbolic thread of bond to the trees during the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

This unique initiative was themed “Tie Rakhi to a Tree” and was part of AIMETC’s ongoing CSR initiatives. The broader goal was to further foster commitment towards creating a green environment. This endeavour not only symbolised the bond between humans and nature, but also served as a platform to generate widespread awareness about the importance of preserving trees planted in the surroundings.

Further, tying rakhi to trees symbolises a bond of love and protection with nature. This eco-friendly gesture promotes tree conservation, crucial for our environment’s health. By nurturing trees, we ensure cleaner air, biodiversity, and a sustainable future, aligning the tradition of rakhi with responsible environmental stewardship.

On the festival day, AIMETC students tie a rakhi to a tree or plant at their home or locality, click a photograph and post the same on social media with the hashtag #AIMETCGreenRakhi. Enthusiastic students captured this heartfelt moment and shared them on their social media platforms.

This simple yet profound gesture embodied each individual’s pledge to safeguard the environment and promote a sustainable future.
