Mohit Chauhan, Senior Software Engineer, TIC Retail Accessories, and wife Vibha Hanaria, Business Intelligence Consultant, Razor Group, have enrolled daughter Maanvi in Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, in nursery. Having missed the experience of a play school, it was Apeejay that introduced their daughter to the concept of a classroom, says the father in an interview. From the school’s innovative teaching methods to the teachers’ support, read on to know about Mohit’s experience with the school. Edited excerpts:
What made you pick Apeejay Svran Global School for your daughter?
I was already aware of Apeejay schools, known for their quality of education. Apeejay Svran Global is close to our home in Faridabad. I had heard positive reviews about the school and so, my wife and I decided to get our daughter enrolled there.
What was the first visit to the school campus like?
I visited the school twice before the pandemic struck. That was the time when I was looking for a play school for my daughter. But due to the pandemic, we continued homeschooling. Later, once the nursery admissions began, I visited the school again. We met the principal, who told us about Apeejay Svran in detail. We also visited the classrooms and other areas within the school premises.
How well has Maanvi adapted to online classes?
With no experience of a play school, this is the first time that Maanvi is attending classes. She would get a little restless in the beginning but over time, she adapted well and enjoys the classes now. She listens to her teacher attentively and participates in the class activities. The classes are theme-based and incorporate a lot of play, which works well in the case of young children. As parents, we are also able to interact with the teachers. I am happy with the school.
What progress are you observing in her?
Maanvi is learning phonic sounds. Besides simple words, she is also trying to read sentences. She also tries her best to interact with the teacher and ask her questions. She also participates in all kinds of activities. The class strength is small, which is good because it allows the teacher to communicate with students individually and give them proper attention.
Have the online classes helped parents understand the school’s teaching methodologies better?
My mother, wife, and I take turns attending the online classes with Maanvi. In the process, we have also learned a lot about the new teaching methodologies. Besides, we have WhatsApp groups where we can reach out to the teacher whenever required. We are also able to give our feedback to the teachers.
