Selecting the right school for their children is a significant source of anxiety for many parents in India. This pressure stems from a blend of cultural priorities, social expectations, and a deep desire to secure a bright academic and professional future for the next generation. In Indian society, education is held in the highest regard, often seen as the foundation of lifelong success. As a result, parents feel a strong responsibility to make the best possible choice, believing that the right educational environment will pave the way for career growth and long-term financial stability for their children and, by extension, the family.

Therefore, parents look at several aspects while choosing the right fit. “We are from Punjab. Apeejay Schools there have a fantastic reputation and are the best there. That left a lasting impression on us. When it was time for our son to start his formal education we chose Apeejay International School, (AIS) Greater Noida. He has been at this school from the beginning. He recently took his Class XII Board exams. When it was time for our daughter, Jiya in Class VIII now, to start her formal education, AIS was the obvious choice,” the parent, Ms Monika Sood, said.
In a candid interview, the mother shares the values her children have imbibed at this school among other things.
How has your daughter’s journey been so far?
She is going to Class VIII now. She joined right AIS from Petals (pre-primary), so it’s been a long and consistent journey. I’d say her overall development — both academically and personally — has been good.
How do you find the extracurricular activities at the school?
Very good. My daughter is in the school choir and regularly performs during school functions. She has participated in both singing and dancing. She enjoys these activities. We hope that in the new session, she will be part of the choir as well.
Do you think the academic curriculum is well-balanced between theory and practical learning?
The theory part is fine, no complaints there. But I do feel there should be more emphasis on practical learning, especially in subjects like Computers.
Has the school ever exceeded your expectations in any way?
It would be difficult to pinpoint one instance in our long association with this school. But overall, the school has always been good. Whatever we’ve expected from the school has always been met.
How do you think the school contributes to value education and holistic development?
I’ve noticed students here really help one another. If someone is absent, their classmates make sure to support them by sharing notes or helping them catch up. It’s a great thing. Also, I’ve seen positive changes in both my children — they’ve learnt to treat everyone with respect, whether rich or poor. That’s a value I truly appreciate and believe is so important in today’s world.
