At Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, learning became a joyful adventure for nursery and LKG students during a recently held Subject Enrichment Activity (SEA) session. With a well-thought-out blend of creativity and fun, the activities aimed to boost cognitive growth, fine motor skills, and foundational academic understanding.

Colour Sorting Activity

The day began with an engaging Colour Sorting Activity for nursery students. Armed with bright materials and guided by their teachers, the young learners sorted objects based on colour. This simple yet effective exercise helped refine their visual perception and enhanced their ability to differentiate between colours.

Beyond the academic benefits, this activity fostered essential hand-eye coordination and cognitive skills. The cheerful energy in the classroom was palpable as children confidently named colours and matched items, laying the groundwork for more advanced classification concepts in the future.

Square block print activity

In the next session, creativity took centrestage with the Square Block Print Activity. Tapping into their creativity, the budding artists explored shapes and colours through the Square Block Print Activity. Using blue paint and square blocks, they discovered the shape square and the colour blue in a fun and engaging way.

The activity strengthened their fine motor skills and encouraged artistic expression. Such hands-on experiences make learning exciting and meaningful while laying a strong foundation for their overall development.

LKG Activities: Strengthening the foundation

The LKG students also participated in two thoughtfully designed enrichment activities. Each session was crafted to build their understanding of shapes and numbers in a fun and interactive setting.

In the Shape Sensations activity, students used colourful blocks to form various geometric shapes. As they assembled triangles, circles, and squares, they developed a clearer understanding of shape names and properties. The hands-on activity also gave them a chance to boost their creativity and fine motor control.

Let’s count the beads: Building numeracy skills

Numeracy was made enjoyable through the “Let’s Count the Beads” session, where children used a ganitmala (a traditional number bead string) to practise counting. This playful exercise helped them visualise numbers and improved their number sense. It was an engaging way to introduce basic Math skills, preparing them for more structured learning ahead.

The Subject Enrichment Activities at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, reflect the school’s commitment to making early education enjoyable, engaging, and impactful.
