Young orators shine at Inter-house English debate

The spirit of healthy competition and intellectual exchange came alive at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, as the junior wing of the school hosted its Inter-house English Debate Competition. The event brought together talented young speakers from Classes V, offering them a platform to articulate their ideas, present logical arguments, and showcase their confidence in public speaking.

Representing Gautam, Kabir, Nanak and Vivekanand Houses, participants debated with remarkable enthusiasm and conviction. Their well-researched arguments, clear articulation, effective voice modulation and confident stage presence reflected thorough preparation and a deep understanding of the topics. The competition not only celebrated eloquence but also encouraged students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills and the confidence to express their viewpoints respectfully.

Organised under the guidance of Mrs Monika Pehal, In-charge, the event was conducted seamlessly and provided an enriching learning experience for all participants. The competition was judged by Mr Pankaj Kaushik and Ms Annu, who evaluated students on parameters including content, fluency, confidence, expression, presentation and overall impact.

Appreciating the participants’ exceptional performances, the judges commended the students for their impressive command over the English language and their ability to present persuasive arguments with clarity and confidence.

After an engaging contest, Raavi of Class V from Vivekanand House was declared the Best Debater for her outstanding presentation and compelling arguments. Devansh Gahlawat of Class V from Gautam House and Yashika of Class V from Vivekanand House secured the second position, while Aaradhya of Class V from Gautam House and Kanishka of Class V from Nanak House shared the third position. The winners received warm applause from the audience, while every participant was appreciated for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony by the school Principal, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, who congratulated the winners and presented certificates and prizes. Addressing the students, he said, “The Icompetition showcased the confidence, intelligence, and eloquence of our young learners. Every participant displayed remarkable preparation and courage while presenting thoughtful arguments. I congratulate all the winners and appreciate every student who stepped onto the stage with confidence. Such activities help children develop communication skills, critical thinking, leadership qualities, and self-belief. My sincere appreciation goes to the organisers, judges, and teachers for conducting the event successfully and inspiring our students to excel.”

Overall. the Inter-house English Debate Competition reinforced the school’s commitment to holistic education by providing students with opportunities to build confidence, sharpen their communication skills, and develop qualities of thoughtful, responsible, and articulate future leaders.
