Excerpts from the interview.

How has your journey been thus far?

It’s been a wonderful journey so far and the final destination is yet to be reached. I have been teaching for just under two decades now and have achieved some great milestones. It feels so good to know that so many of my students have today become Chartered Accountants, Advocates, and MBAs who are working with MNCs or have become successful entrepreneurs. However, my journey with Apeejay only started in 2022.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a teacher?

For me, the best reward for a teacher is when we see our students achieving success in their life much higher than us. There is nothing better than knowing that you (teacher) have been instrumental in ensuring that a student of yours has received accolades in his professional journey.

How do you motivate students to perform better?

Every student has a different way of getting motivated. The first thing I do is to analyse how a child can be motivated. For this, talking to the student is the most important thing. I talk about the moral values of life; I talk about the practicality of life and give them real-life examples. Once the student is connected with you then he/she is automatically motivated.

Is it tough to keep senior students interested in a class? How do you achieve that?

If someone is teaching with their heart and passion then automatically the interest is created and I do teach with passion. I enjoy teaching my subject, so the interest gets created with that alone.

How has teaching methodology changed over the years?

The teaching methodology had changed manifolds over the years. In the present scenario, technology has become an integrated part of the whole learning process. Rote learning is now extinct and learning while doing and connecting the subjects with real life is the new way of teaching and learning.

How do you maintain a work-life balance?

The first thing in maintaining a work-life balance is to do the work you are passionate about. I had chosen my passion as my profession. Moreover, I follow a disciplined timetable so that I can give ample time to my work as well as my family. I usually go for a long vacation at least once a year. And whenever I get an opportunity, I indulge myself in my second hobby – photography.
