In a scenario where environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, waste management, etc. need to be addressed on an urgent basis, celebrating World Environment Day has become crucial more than ever before. It is important to raise awareness and promote collective action towards protecting our planet. By celebrating this day, we honour the beauty and diversity of nature while emphasising our responsibility to preserve it for future generations. And thus, together, we can foster a sustainable and harmonious relationship with the environment.

In line with the above-mentioned thought, Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) in Jalandhar celebrated World Environment Day in its campus. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Sustainable Future: Reuse, Recycle, and Plant’. It reflects each individual’s  commitment to create a sustainable future by focusing on the principles of reusing, recycling, and planting. The theme encourages collective efforts towards building a pollution-free environment and abundant green spaces. It emphasises the need to protect the planet, only home for future generations.

Thus familiarising the importance of protecting Mother nature, students of AIMETC were guided about the importance of tree plantation and reducing deforestation. Students were also made aware about how plastic and other waste are clogging our landfills. A lot is already happening with the help of science and other solutions, but what is priority now is a surge of public pressure to scale up and speed actions from governments, companies and other stakeholders to solve this crisis. This underscores the importance of this World Environment Day while mobilising action from every corner of the world.

Further, students also planted saplings and understood how to manage waste to create a more clean and green space.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director at AIMETC said, “World Environment Day is having immense significance. On this Day, let us start with the sustainable practices for thriving business ecosystem and better planet. And, we as educationists and business leaders, must understand that healthy environment is required for sustainable growth and future success.”
