He has achieved an impressive feat by becoming the Delhi Bureau Chief at Khulke where he was leading a team of 10. His journey is truly inspiring. He began by pursuing a course in Television and Radio Journalism Production at the Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), which provided him with the essential skills needed to reach where he is today. He started as a ground reporter at the social media networking app Khulke.
Meet Ayush Kant Dubey.

In a candid interview, Ayush expresses his gratitude for AIMC and how the institute transformed his career aspirations into a visionary goal.

Tell us about your work.

I always wanted to build a career in media and journalism. I worked as a reporter at the social media networking app Khulke and moved up the ladder to finally became the Delhi Bureau Chief for them. In this role, I operated as a ground reporter and had the responsibility of overseeing a team of 10.

How did AIMC help shape your career?

The unparalleled knowledge I acquired from AIMC played an exceptional role in securing my position in the media industry. The college has been highly instrumental in shaping my journey in this particular field.

Did you face any challenges in your career?

Media as an industry is all about challenges. One of the most common challenges I faced during my career was dealing with the higher-ups who may undermine you unless you prove your capabilities. Gaining the trust of your seniors is crucial but this road takes work. As one of our professors often said, ‘Practice makes perfect’ is only part of the story; it’s regular practice that truly makes a person perfect. Abiding by the same, I worked hard every day and practiced honing my skills to reach where I am today.

What is the biggest milestone you are willing to achieve?

I aspire to become a news anchor for a well-known channel. To stand somewhere, where I can deliver news to the public and become a credible source of information to contribute important stories.

Which language are you comfortable in, if you make your career into anchoring?

I am more comfortable in my native language, which is Hindi, but I aim to maintain a balance of both Hindi and English. Being proficient in both languages increases my chances of success, as you never know which language might open up new opportunities for you.

Have any steps taken lately to give a boost to your dream career?

Yes. I am planning to join television media now as it will open doors of new opportunities for me, thereby enabling me to take a step closer to my goal.

The media industry requires you to remain updated with the trends. How do you keep yourself updated?

The biggest merit in today’s world is social media. While newspapers haven’t lost their relevance, social media has become more dominant. Information is now at our fingertips; you can choose to read articles, download news apps, and explore a wide range of topics beyond traditional boundaries from anywhere in the world. Social media offers the convenience of connecting anytime and delving into diverse editorials.

Any fond memories from your college days?

From the day I joined till the day I left, every memory is etched in my brain. To pick any one? It would be a trip to Jaisalmer which was extremely full of fun and adventures. Other than that, I was an anchor at WeCare Film Festival which was a great learning experience.

Any tips on how to build a successful career in your media industry?

I am led back to the time when there was the orientation of a new batch. I talked about the three Ps — patience, perseverance, and persistence. If you follow these, you will succeed one day.
