Devika Sharma

Devika Sharma (32) is a homemaker and a proud Apeejay alumna. She did her schooling from Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg and then completed her B.Com from the Apeejay School of Fine Arts. Her husband Ashish Sharma is a businessman. The couple’s daughter Pavika Sharma is a student of class 2 at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg.

Please tell us a little about your daughter?

We are blessed to have her as our daughter. She is very understanding. She is a very good child and obedient too. She adapts everything quickly. She is very good in studies as well as extracurricular activities. At this young age itself, she is keen to learn new things. I am very proud since she wins prizes in all the activities she participates in.

Why did you choose Apeejay over other schools?

The prime reason was the fact that I am an alumnus of Apeejay and know the values about the school. The management here is very good. I trust the school. I am very proud to send my daughter to the same school from where I did my schooling.

What is unique about the school?

I love everything about Apeejay. In every stream, it is the best. Even in the time of pandemic, I am glad how smoothly they are conducting the virtual classes. I am satisfied as a parent. Each and every concept is getting cleared by the teachers. I don’t have to do anything additional to make her learn things. Also, the location of the school, which is right in the heart of the city, is something that works for me.

How does she spend her day?

Usually she is busy with online classes till 2 pm. She then takes a break and in the evening I have enrolled her in private activity classes such as dance, physical activities and communication activities. As she is not venturing outdoors in the pandemic and I don’t want her to waste this time, these extra classes are keeping her busy and nourishing her.

Is she comfortable in online classes?

Yes, now she is quite comfortable. The teachers are doing an excellent job unlike many other schools. My child is also satisfied as all her concepts are getting cleared. She doesn’t feel that the school is online.  She is not taking help from me, as all her doubts are cleared by the teachers themselves. Still, she does miss going to school.

Is she getting individual attention from the teachers?

Yes, in fact every child is getting an equal chance to speak and clear their concepts. Hats off to the calmness and patience of the teachers who never get offended by the questions raised by the students. I myself have seen students asking the same question, 10-20 times. And the teacher responds softly every time to make the child understand.

“At times, I find it difficult to answer my daughter when she asks me about the reopening of the school after the pandemic. She misses her school badly.”
