Most students going from Class X to Class XI will tell you that there is a vast difference, and transitioning to it can be a challenge. However, some students believe that consistency and hard work can yield great results. Meet three such Humanities students – Yash Kumar (89.2%), Hari Chandwani (89%), and Yashita Goel (85.8%) of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park – who proved that it is important to have a study strategy in mind.

Yash was delighted with his marks, though he had expected this outcome. He planned to finish the syllabus early so he could review the day before the exam. “This approach reduced stress and helped me stay calm. I used to study around two hours daily, waking up at 4 am and studying until 6 am,” said the Class XII student.

He gave special attention to subjects like Psychology and Political Science, relying heavily on classroom learning and preferring to make notes directly from textbooks rather than copying from the board. “The support from our teachers was incredible — they were always available, even for the smallest doubts,” he added.

Yash also made time for extracurricular activities, which helped him stay motivated. “Taking breaks was important. Without them, I’d feel exhausted and lose focus,” he shared.

Hari was pleasantly surprised by her result. “I followed a disciplined routine—waking up around 6 or 7 am and studying for two to three hours straight. With breaks in between, I studied for nearly eight hours daily,” said the Class XII Humanities student.

Given the stream’s emphasis on writing detailed answers, she focused on thoroughly understanding concepts. Her exam-writing strategy was structured and effective: she wrote in bullet points, used key terms, and ensured every answer had an introduction, body, and conclusion. She credited her success to strong teacher support.

“I had initially taken Physical Education but later switched to Psychology. My Psychology teacher guided me throughout, even taking extra classes. The school environment was equally encouraging, and teachers were always available to clear doubts,” Hari shared.

Yashita was slightly disappointed with her result, as she had hoped to score above 90%. “I approached every exam seriously—be it unit tests or midterms,” said the Class XII student. With a theory-based stream, she preferred studying two to three subjects daily to avoid monotony and stay focused. Economics posed a major challenge due to its numerical elements. “Till Term 1, I wasn’t very strong in it, which affected my percentage. “But I improved by Term 2,” she shared, crediting her school’s emphasis on conceptual understanding over rote learning for helping her write detailed, well-informed answers.
