According to news reports, private schools in West Bengal have been directed by the state government to stop offline classes from May 7 and switch to online learning. This directive has been issued considering the extreme summer conditions in the area.

School Education Department Principal Secretary Manish Jain asked the private schools of West Bengal to conduct classes online if they don’t not wish to advance summer vacations from May 2. He said, “Private schools should not conduct in-person classes in school buildings now in the interest of students as they are falling sick in the extreme heat conditions.”

In addition to this, Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has asked all schools to begin vacations in advance from May 2 instead of June 15 because of the weather conditions.
