For Ria Sahay, choosing the right school for her son Shivansh went beyond academics. She wanted an environment reminiscent of her own childhood, where children had the space to play, explore, and grow. A big playground, warm and approachable teachers, and an education that extended beyond textbooks were non-negotiables on her list.

Today, with Shivansh in Class 1 at Apeejay School, Noida, Ria reflects on a journey that has not only met those expectations but made her young child wonderfully independent.

What factors were you considering while choosing a school for your son?

For me, having a big playground was essential, so children could get fresh air and the space to play. The second was that teachers needed to be friendly and approachable with the kids, and that the teaching environment shouldn’t be limited to bookish knowledge alone. All of these things I found in Apeejay School, Noida.

Do you find the teachers approachable and supportive, both for parents and students?

Yes, overall I’ve had a positive experience. There were a few initial adjustments when Shivansh moved into Class 1, which is natural during any transition, but things have settled well since then, and communication with the teacher has been smooth and responsive.

Does the school communicate well in advance about trips, excursions, or other activities?

Yes, definitely. We’re given enough advance notice. This helps us plan and prepare for enrolling him in excursions or other activities.

Is there anything you’d particularly like to highlight about your experience with the school?

Yes, actually, there’s one thing I’m especially happy about. It’s hard to believe that a nursery, KG, or Class 1 child can complete homework independently, but my son does exactly that.

Even on days when I’m unwell, I simply sit beside him, and he manages his homework on his own. He picks up his book and completes his homework independently. Even my own parents were surprised when I told them, since they didn’t think children this young could be so self-sufficient.

I genuinely believe the school has helped make him independent. The teachers explain concepts so well in class that the children are able to apply them on their own at home.

Do you feel the school is a safe environment, including interactions with teaching and non-teaching staff?

Yes, absolutely. I personally use the pick-and-drop facility, but within the school, I feel he is completely safe with both the teaching and non-teaching staff. I haven’t had any concerns so far.
