There are more than eight billion people on Earth. But when it comes to protecting the planet from pollution and deforestation, only a few come forward to contribute and make a difference. We must realise that by taking part in activities such as picking up litter and planting more trees, we can surely make the world a happier, healthier place to live.

Recently, students across Apeejay schools in India participated in the Earth Day celebrations. Each year, the day is commemorated on the 22nd of April to demonstrate the need for environmental preservation. At Apeejay School, Model Town in Jalandhar, the celebrations for Earth Day began with a thematic assembly where students presented poems and speeches highlighting the importance of the occasion. Further, they sung a melodious song on saving the Earth followed by a beautiful dance performance.

Young learners also pledged to reduce, reuse and recycle to save the blue planet. In addition to this, a poster making competition was organised in the school themed ‘Nurture the Nature’ and the Principal Mr Malkiat Singh felicitated the students with exciting prizes. He further urged them to contribute in making the planet clean and green.

To mark the day’s importance, Rhythms Kinderworld School in the same city encouraged pre-primary kids to dress up in green and blue coloured clothes. As part of the school assembly, Upper Kindergarten students stated some mind-boggling facts about Earth Day. Other activities included finger-dabbing, tearing and pasting, earbud dabbing to make the little ones aware of their surroundings and enhance their creativity, imagination and fine motor skills.

With the intention of promoting environmental awareness and sustainability, Apeejay School, Tanda Road provided students a unique opportunity to learn about the importance of protecting the planet and take action to address ecological issues. Therefore, the pre-primary students as well as those from classes 1 to 4 participated in a plant sapling drive.
