To mark the festival Diwali, students and teachers of Apeejay School International (ASI), South Delhi, organised their first successful ‘Diwali Fest’. Students, parents, and teachers donned traditional attire while enjoying the festive vibe.

This special ‘Diwali Fest’ was held on the school ground of ASI highlighting the message of ‘Green Diwali, Clean Diwali’. The entire ground was decorated with lights as well as vibrant hues, and the fest had an ambience of joy and happiness.

Subsequently, a magic show was conducted and that was followed by beautiful poetry, and singing performances. The students showcased the spirit of Diwali through a scintillating dance performance which added much exuberance and brought great joy to the audience.

The senior school students actively planned, collaborated and participated in this event. The fest included Talent Show, Games Zone, Nail Art Section, Pottery Making and Food Stalls with lip smacking delicacies like dahi bhalla, chole bhature. Diwali Decor Stall was led by a bunch of students from the Diploma Programme for the purpose of their school enterprise challenge.

On this special occasion, Purshottam Dutt Vashist, Principal of ASI said, “Not only fun events but stalls of decorative items were also organised by students considering the festivity. As part of the curriculum, the earned amount from the stalls will be donated to the CRY Foundation.”

Mrs Sanya Malhotra, Business Management Facilitator of Diploma Programme said, “Students were encouraged to participate in a competition ‘School enterprise challenge’, in which they were asked to come up with a business model and showcase the business operation skills linked with Diwali Fest. The event was completely designed by students with the support of the teachers which took around 2 weeks of preparation.”

When asked about the Diwali plans of parents, Dr Gouri Hasija said, “Government has given orders to have Green Diwali. I would like to request other parents to encourage students to spend quality time with family, enjoy good food, make rangoli and completely avoid burning crackers.”

Another parent, Mukta Kheterpal said, “Everyone enjoyed the event and teachers took care of everything. Students worked very hard for the Diwali event. It was a great occasion to bring in the festivities where we all parents got a chance to meet each other.”

Shweta Chaudhary, mother of ASI student Vaishnavi,  said, “The entire environment was cheerful, bright and celebratory. We enjoyed the event a lot and kids did a great job. I am looking forward to spending some time with my family at home on the occasion of Diwali.”

Lastly, to energise the students with some real festive feels there was an ASI flash mob, in which all the students, parents and teachers danced their hearts out and filled the premises with vibrancy, energy and fun. The parents enjoyed the Tambola and musical chairs towards the end of the event.
