‘From being shy to hosting Annual Day event, my son’s life took a 180-degree turn since joining Apeejay’

Deepti Kumar did her B.Com (Honours) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi and M.Com from Delhi School of Economics. Her spouse, Amnish Kumar, owns a factory manufacturing Reinforced concrete pipes. Their son, Advik Kumar, is studying in class 7 of Apeejay School Model Town. In a candid conversation, Deepti tells us how Apeejay has contributed to the all-round development of his 12-year-old son.

What did you choose Apeejay for Advik?

Being a Delhiite, I was not much aware of other schools in Jalandhar, but I had heard a lot of positive things about Apeejay. We also took feedback from other parents and they too spoke highly of the school. The icing on the cake was the Apeejay was conveniently located near our house.

Share with us the progress you have seen in Advik since joining Apeejay?

I had a great experience with the school. I am happy to state that Advik stood first in class 6. Initially, he was quite shy, used to fumble a lot and has a problem with his pronunciation. However, with the constant support of teachers his confidence and public speaking skills have improved tremendously. In fact, he did compering (anchoring) of the last Annual Day. Apeejay gives enormous exposure to students through a slew of extra-curricular activities and that’s why, unlike other parents, I didn’t feel the need to enrol my kid in personality development classes. I am also in touch with my peers and I can proudly declare that the efforts put in by the teachers during the pandemic are unrivalled. Teachers were fully attentive during online classes and gave every student an equal opportunity to speak. To keep the students engaged, they conducted all kinds of online activities. We were not expecting that online education can be conducted this smoothly.

How is the parent-teacher equation?

It’s cordial and filled with warmth and understanding. They are available round the clock and give us a patient hearing. Teachers always give practical solutions to our problems.

It has to be Advik hosting of the recent Annual Day event.Only those who are best are selected to do compering at Annual Days. Advik was so determined to host the event that he walked up to the concerned teachers and Principal to give multiple auditions. To my surprise, he was selected to host the Annual Day. This couldn’t have been possible without the support and encouragement of teachers. From being shy to hosting the Annual Day event, my son’s life took a 180-degree turn since joining Apeejay. I remember how after the event every teacher congratulated me and said Advik has ‘exceeded our expectations’.  I felt so proud.
