Finding the scientist within!

Primary section students of Apeejay School, Noida participate in ‘Be that scientist’ competition and discover science beyond the classroom

Science coupled with humanity is the only way forward. Science helps bring ease into human life and frees us in many ways from various social and natural constraints. Scientists are visionary leaders indeed who have played one of the most major roles in shaping human society.

At Apeejay School, Noida, Science is given its proper place. Students explore the wonders of science beyond the curriculum and inculcate it as an essential attitude.

In continuation with the school’s zeal to encourage innovation and creativity among the young learners, the primary department of Apeejay School, Noida recently organised a science competition titled: ‘Be That Scientist’ for the students of class 5.

The competition aimed to give a platform to all students to promote their scientific temper and realise their scientific skills in doing the science activities.

A preliminary round for the selection of students was held between late October and early November. Two students per section were shortlisted to showcase their model along with the explanation in the final round of competition held recently.

The competition provided a thorough exposure to all the students and aided them in exploring their latent innovative spirit and creativity. The presentations of the participants were judged on the basis of different parameters such as creativity, context & research, usage of appropriate props and overall presentation.

Himali Kashyap of class 5-D bagged the first prize. Kanika Sharma and Kartik Sudeep, students of class 5-C and 5-E respectively, bagged the second position. Students with individual brilliance were also awarded as the best performer from each class was selected and appreciated. Saumya Vohra from class 5-A, Ameyaa Bajaj form class 5-B, Naitik Singh from class 5-C, Aryamaan Singh Chavan from class 5-D, Diva Rathi from class 5-E and Hetika Sharma from class 5-F were the best amongst their respective classes.

Speaking about the importance of extracurricular events in the overall  development of students, Mr. A. K. Sharma, Principal, said, “Events such as these, train our students in important decision making skills and diplomacy which constitute all the essential attributes  for successful global citizens of tomorrow.”
