Diwali Cheers: Punjab schools ring in the Festival of Lights

In a jubilant display of cultural solidarity, two prominent schools in Punjab recently celebrated Diwali in a spectacular fashion. The campuses were transformed into a dazzling spectacle of lights, echoing with laughter and the spirit of unity. Students, parents, and grandparents joined hands to usher in the Festival of Lights, making it a joyous occasion for the entire school community. From traditional ceremonies to the radiant glow of diyas, the celebration encapsulated the essence of Diwali, merging tradition with the pursuit of knowledge. These dual festivities not only illuminated the school premises but also exemplified the harmonious blend of culture and education in the heart of Punjab.

Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar Aglow with Diwali Spirit: Students, Parents, and Grandparents Unite

Through a dazzling display of cultural fervour, the hallowed grounds of Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar played host to a vibrant celebration of Diwali, marked by the auspicious entry of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Mahalakshmi into the campus. Over 50 students, accompanied by their parents and grandparents, graced the occasion, creating a festive atmosphere steeped in tradition.

The symbolic red alta adorning the little girls’ feet and the vermillion applied on each child’s forehead marked the sanctity of the day. The ceremonial lighting of lamps took center stage, skillfully orchestrated by the tiny tots, adding a touch of innocence to the proceedings.

As a testament to unity and collaboration, the school and parent community united in a unique gesture of illuminating diyas in the temple of learning, the school’s campus itself. Sweets flowed freely, creating an atmosphere of shared joy among the students and parents in attendance.

“Our school is like a temple of Maa Saraswati. On the auspicious day of Diwali, we worshipped and prayed for everyone’s well-being. By lighting diyas and candles, we illuminated the whole atmosphere and evoked a divine aura,” says student Bhavesh Aggarwal.

Sharing a similar view, Anjali Bakhshi, mother of students Tanish and Arjun says, “It was a good initiative taken up by the school.  My son, Tanish and I, felt blessed to be part of this ceremony. Besides, I got a chance to meet other parents and grandparents on the big day.”

Mr Malkiat Singh, the esteemed principal extended his heartfelt wishes, emphasising the significance of community celebrations in fostering a sense of shared humanity. The event stood as a testament to the school’s commitment to cultural inclusivity and collaborative festivities.

Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar Unveils Razzle Dazzle 2023: A Glittering Pre-Diwali Extravaganza

Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, ignited the festive spirit with a spectacular pre-Diwali celebration, Razzle Dazzle 2023. The school transformed into a vibrant canvas of colours, adorned with diyas, torans, and flowers, setting the perfect stage for the festivities.

The event, attended by tiny tots from various Play Way schools alongside their Heads, teachers, and parents, kicked off in traditional fashion with the lighting of the auspicious lamp and a heartfelt prayer for blessings from Goddess Lakshmi. The cultural gala commenced with a mesmerising classical Invocation Dance, followed by enchanting performances by students, Aaradhya and Aakriti on the English song, ‘Do re mi…‘ This was followed by students, Yadunandan and Manmeet Singh’s soulful renditions of Make me a believer.’

Next, students,Mannanjot Kaur, Parmanant, and Sahibjot Singh enthralled the audience with Punjabi folk songs, while Diya, Simarpreet Kaur, and Javneet Kaur lit up the stage with electrifying Punjabi dance numbers.

Mr AK Sharma, the school’s principal, addressed the gathering, noted the essence of Diwali as a celebration of life and goodness. He extended a warm welcome to the attendees from various playschools and expressed gratitude to the staff, students, and parents for their eminent presence. The school showcased an exhibition of exquisite diyas, pooja thalis, and torans crafted by the students, adding a creative touch to the festivities.

The highlight of the evening were the performances by the little stars from Play Way schools. Their talent shone in the Fancy Dress, Poetical Recitation, ‘I love Deepawali because…’ essays, and Solo Dance competitions. The stage came alive as these young stars walked the ramp with their parents for the Modelling Competition.

Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat, the vice-principal, extended gratitude in the Vote of Thanks, wishing everyone a bright and prosperous Diwali. She acknowledged the heads of playschools for their overwhelming participation and lauded Mr Sharma for his empowering leadership and expert guidance. The event’s success was attributed to the collective effort of parents, students, and staff, both teaching and administrative, along with the support staff. The festivities reached their peak as principal, vice-principal, and judges awarded certificates and prizes to the winners. The grand finale featured an energetic giddha performance by the talented girl students of classes XI and XII.

Razzle Dazzle 2023 left an indelible mark, bringing together the community in a joyous celebration of Diwali and fostering a spirit of camaraderie and festivity that will be cherished for years to come.
