At Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, some families have a long association with the school. Shashi Bala is the mother of Armaan, a Class 7 student, and of Sanvi, who studied at Apeejay for 11 years, became head girl and passed out last year. Shashi is herself a teacher, yet she chose Apeejay for her children. In this conversation, she explains why and what she has seen in Armaan since he joined.
You are also a teacher yourself, but why did you opt for Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri?
The main reason was the co-curricular activities. Apeejay gives students exactly the kind of atmosphere I wanted for my children, one where they grow through activities and exposure as well as academics. Also my elder daughter Sanvi also graduated from here so we had a positive relationship with school and teachers.
How do you find the education at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri? Do you feel it is on par with current trends and up to date?
The education is nice. I especially liked the environment and the bond students share with each other and with the school. Students are not taught only theory. They gain practical knowledge as well, and that makes their learning stronger.
Also if we approach a teacher with an issue, teachers listen patiently and help find a solution. That experience has been very good for me.
Do you feel your child and other students are safe in school, including in the washrooms, around staff, and with the school’s furniture and facilities?
Yes, completely. I have never had any concern on this front. I would say the care the school takes of the children is 100 per cent. My elder daughter studied there for 11 years, and I never once felt unsafe about her being there. Armaan’s father drops him and brings him home, so the commute is taken care of.
Does the school communicate with parents on time about events such as the Winter Carnival or a picnic?
Yes. The school informs us well in advance about everything, including the sports function, so we have plenty of time to prepare.
Since Armaan joined, what academic and personality changes have you seen in him?
His speaking and communication skills have improved a lot. He has also become more polite, and he now conveys his thoughts very well. The communication gap I noticed earlier has improved, and Armaan feels more confident than before.
On the other hand, academically, there has been a lot of improvement. He needed a little time to adjust in the beginning, but with the principal’s support and his own cooperation, he is doing well now.
