Rabindranath Tagore had once said that every child comes with the message that God is yet not discouraged by man. Such is the nature of children. When we think about children, almost all the bright colours come to our mind, yet the one colour that most captivates our imagination about children is white. For children are pure in heart and spirit and it is their worldview alone which sees the world and people as one.
To celebrate the gaiety and innocence of the childish heart, Apeejay School Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, organised Children’s Day celebration on November 14 in the school campus to make the young leaners feel loved and cherished. With the blessings of honourable President Madam Ms. Sushma Paul Berlia and under the able guidance of Principal Ms. Sangeeta Nistandra the event was a massive hit among all students.
The programme began with daily prayer in the school auditorium. It was followed by a heartfelt message by Principal Ms. Sangeeta Nistandra as she wished all the kids on their special day and also threw some light on the importance of Children’s Day.
She said, “On Children’s Day, we celebrate the birthday of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first prime minister of the nation. Pt Nehru considered children the real strength of a nation and the foundation of the society. This day raises awareness about the rights, care, and education of children as happy children of today build together a happy nation of tomorrow.”
The surprise element of the special assembly however was a movie screening in the school auditorium which the kids enjoyed thoroughly. The students loved watching the movie Matilda which was initially written as a novel by celebrated writer Roald Dahl. The students loved watching the movie and also picked up key value lessons from the same.
Speaking about the movie screening, class 4 student Jasmine Kaur said, “I loved the movie Matilda because the movie was about a girl name Matilda, who had magical powers and was also very smart and managed to do very well for herself at the end of the movie. It was a hilarious movie. The pranks Matilda did on her family made me laugh a lot. They were the funniest pranks I have ever seen.”
Kindergarten teachers also arranged a small get together party for the tiny tots of the school wherein the toddlers danced their hearts out and the senior students enjoyed playing various fun games and participating in dance and drawing competitions.
Adding five stars to the celebrations, the school teachers distributed chocolates among all the students and congratulated them on their special day.
“Apeejay School, Rama Mandi is a place where happiness is a virtue. We celebrate each and every child and every single day our teachers try their best to nurture every child’s curiosity and encourage them to identify and seek answers to questions that pique their interests.”
