Department of Fine Arts, ACFA hosts workshop on painting

At the 5-day workshop that concluded today, the expert explained different techniques, use of colours and styles of composition

The Department of Fine Arts, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar hosted a five-day workshop on painting that concluded today. The students of MA Fine Arts, BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts), and BA Fine Arts enthusiastically and actively participated in it. 

Madan Lal, a National Award winner that is conferred by the National Lalit Kala Akademi gave the students tips on different techniques of painting. The objective was to impart knowledge about the use of colours, different styles of composition, elements of composition and details on how to make a good painting.

Lal explained the principle elements that are used to create a painting. He not only displayed over a hundred of his paintings but also explained each one of them in great detail about the colour used and the idea behind the composition. 

The students were also shown a slide show of the paintings of Lal that have been displayed at various art galleries across the globe.

Dr Neerja Dhingra, principal of ACFA expressing her views on the occasion said, “It is our honour to have such a renowned personality at our campus who is a master in his field. The workshop encouraged students to learn intricate details and guidelines that will be helpful for them in the future. It is fortunate that our students got the opportunity to learn extraordinary skills and tips regarding painting from the expert himself.

Apart from this, Lal also cleared doubts that were raised by the students in detail.”

At the end of the event, Dr Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr Rimpi Aggarwal, Head of the PG Department of Fine Arts, Dr Jeevan Kumari, Ms Amandeep and Mr Anil Gupta, Head of the PG Department of Applied Art and encouraged them to keep doing such quality work.
