Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, organised an industrial visit to Tanveer Unisex Salon, Model Town, Jalandhar, for its B.Voc. Cosmetology Semester III students to familiarise them with professional practices in the hair and beauty industry. The visit focused on hair cutting, styling and maintenance, offering students an opportunity to gain practical insights from experienced salon professionals.
The visit was designed to complement classroom learning with industry exposure and help students understand the techniques, standards and professional expectations associated with salon services. During the interaction, students observed various professional hair-cutting techniques and learned about hair sectioning methods, blow-drying, hairstyling and finishing techniques. They were also introduced to the appropriate use of professional salon tools and equipment.
The salon experts shared their knowledge of contemporary hairstyles and emerging trends influencing the fashion and beauty industry. Through these demonstrations and discussions, students gained a better understanding of how technical expertise, creativity and attention to detail contribute to delivering quality salon services.
The industrial visit also highlighted the importance of maintaining hygiene, ensuring precision in hair cutting, understanding client requirements through effective consultation and adhering to professional conduct. These aspects are essential for aspiring cosmetologists who wish to establish themselves in the competitive beauty and wellness sector.
By observing professionals at work and gaining insights into their methods, students could relate their academic knowledge to real-world practices. The experience helped them appreciate the practical challenges involved in hair cutting and styling while understanding the importance of adapting techniques to individual client preferences and current fashion trends.

Commenting on the initiative, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra emphasised the importance of organising industrial visits regularly to provide students with meaningful practical exposure to the fashion and beauty industry. She expressed confidence that the visit had proved to be a valuable learning experience, strengthening students’ self-confidence and enhancing their practical skills in hair cutting and styling.
Dr. Dhingra also appreciated the efforts of Ms. Meenal Sandhu, faculty member of the Fashion Makeover Department, for successfully organising the industrial visit.
The initiative reflects Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar’s emphasis on experiential learning and industry-oriented education. By facilitating direct interaction with salon professionals, the college continues to provide students with opportunities to develop relevant technical competencies, understand professional workplace practices and prepare for future careers in cosmetology, hair styling and the wider beauty industry.
