Apeejay School, Model Town celebrates the spirit of Dussehra

A special assembly was organised at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, to celebrate Dussehra. It highlighted the timeless message of the victory of good over evil. The assembly provided students with an opportunity to understand the festival’s cultural and spiritual significance while reflecting on the values of truth, righteousness, compassion and moral integrity. 

The programme commenced with the school prayer and the chanting of the Gayatri mantra, creating an atmosphere of positivity and devotion. This was followed by an affirmation, a group song, a bhajan, a speech, a quiz and the ‘thought of the day’. Each segment was thoughtfully presented, encouraging students to appreciate the festival’s significance and connect its teachings with their everyday lives.

A major highlight of the assembly was a captivating skit and role-play depicting Lord Ram’s victory over Ravan. Through expressive performances and engaging storytelling, the students brought the legendary tale to life, emphasising the importance of choosing the path of truth and goodness. The presentation also encouraged the audience to reflect on the inner battles individuals face, reminding everyone that qualities such as anger, pride, greed and dishonesty must be overcome to lead a virtuous life.

The quiz added an interactive dimension to the programme, testing students’ understanding of Dussehra and its traditions. The speech further reinforced the festival’s relevance in contemporary life, highlighting the importance of upholding ethical values and making responsible choices.

Addressing the students, Principal of the school, Dr Rajesh Kumar Chandel encouraged them to embrace positivity and practise moral values in their daily lives. He appreciated their efforts and enthusiasm in presenting an engaging and meaningful assembly. His message inspired the students to become responsible individuals who uphold honesty, kindness and respect in their interactions with others.

The assembly concluded with a renewed appreciation for the enduring message of Dussehra. Through this celebration, the school, reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing students who value integrity, empathy and righteousness. The programme served as a meaningful reminder that the true essence of Dussehra lies not merely in celebrating the victory of Lord Ram over Ravan, but also in overcoming negativity within ourselves and choosing the path of goodness every day.
