The School of Design & Visual Arts (SDVA) at Apeejay Stya University (ASU) in Gurugram recently hosted its annual flagship event, Connecting Dots: A Design Fest. This year’s theme, inspired by the popular Netflix series Squid Game, brought together students, faculty, and alumni for a day of creativity, competition, and connection.

Bringing enthusiastic participation from budding designers, the Design Fest 2025 saw participants participate in a plethora of exciting activities. The event featured:

– Squid Game Theme Song Dance: The event kicked off with a high-energy dance performance to the iconic Squid Game theme song.

– Food Fiesta: A variety of delicious food stalls offered Ramen, Wai Wai, Cold Coffee, burgers, cheesy corns, cheesy croquettes, and more.

– Product Stalls: Students showcased their entrepreneurial skills with unique product stalls featuring jewelry, hair accessories, shawls, bookmarks, and more.

– Game Arena: Participants competed in exciting games like Mingle Go Around, Dalgona, and Red Light Green Light.

– Tug of War: Teams battled it out in the thrilling Tug of War competition.

– Bench Press Competition: Students showed off their strength in the Bench Press Competition.

– Pottery Experience: Hands-on pottery experiences allowed participants to unleash their creativity.

– Alumni Connect: The event provided a wonderful opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their peers and faculty over lunch.

Sharing her thoughts, Kirti Jha, an alumna from 2020-24 batch expressed, “Attending ‘Connecting Dots’ was an incredible experience! The ‘Squid Game’ theme was incorporated so innovatively by the design students who outdid themselves with this year’s event! As a design enthusiast I was amazed to see innovations done by the faculty members and students with interactive artworks, game and food stalls operated by students themselves, pottery workshops, dance and singing performances. Every detail showcased their creativity and dedication for this event. The whole vibe of this event represented culture celebration and positive interaction with different departments among students. Kudos to the design team for pulling off such a well-organised and visually stunning event.”

Another alumna Divyansh Mehta highlighted, “I am still reeling from the incredible ‘Connecting Dots’ event held at our college! The Squid Game theme was an absolute hit, and I loved how it was woven throughout the activities. But what truly made the event special was the warmth and effort put in by our faculty members.”

He further added, “From the delicious lunch they provided – a sweet gesture that showed they truly care – to the genuine interest they took in our lives, our faculty went above and beyond to connect with us. The event was more than just a fun day out; it was a chance for us to open up, share our stories, and form meaningful bonds with our mentors. The ‘Connecting Dots’ event was a powerful reminder that our college is more than just a place of learning – it’s a community that cares.”
