In a recent communication, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notification to schools, urging them to provide timely and precise feedback on board exam question papers through the Online Examination Centre Management System (OECMS).

The board emphasised the importance of submitting observations on the same day as the exam to facilitate effective improvements in the question papers.

The notification underlined that despite the request for prompt submissions, no punitive action would be taken against schools failing to comply with the instructions or submitting feedback after the stipulated time frame.

The ongoing board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 prompted the CBSE to reiterate the annual call for schools to share their observations and concerns regarding question papers.

CBSE specifically highlighted the need for clarity in the feedback provided, cautioning that vague and unclear observations might not be considered.

This emphasised on precision stems from the board’s observation of schools sending feedback to incorrect email addresses and submitting unclear observations days after the exams had taken place.

The board’s notification comes as a measure to streamline the feedback process and ensure that it contributes meaningfully to the enhancement of future question papers. CBSE noted instances where observations were being sent to incorrect email IDs and where the feedback received needed more clarity.

Furthermore, CBSE reassured schools that no adverse actions would be taken if the submissions were not made promptly or if there were deviations from the given instructions. The primary objective is to gather valuable insights that can aid in refining the examination system.

In a related development, the CBSE took to social media to debunk a false circular circulating online, suggesting the postponement of the 2024 board exams due to ongoing farmers’ protests.

The board clarified that exams for Classes 10 and 12 commenced on February 15, with Class 12 exams scheduled to conclude on April 2 and Class 10 exams on March 13. As the examinations progress, the CBSE remains committed to ensuring a fair and transparent evaluation process. The call for timely and clear feedback from schools reflects the board’s dedication to continuous improvement and its responsiveness to the evolving needs of the education system.
