The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Business Studies exam on March 27, 2024. The three-hour exam was conducted from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. The students were also given 15 minutes – from 10:15 am to 10:30 am – to read the question paper thoroughly. The question paper was for 80 marks with 20 marks for projects.

There were 34 questions in all with internal choice.

1 mark questions (No Choices) – 20

3 mark questions – 50-75 words answer – 4

4 mark questions – 150 words answers – 6

6 mark questions – 200 words answers – 4

·         When comparing the current year’s exam difficulty to the previous year, the consensus is moderate. There was no significant increase in challenge.

·         The 6 marker questions were easy and the students had no problem in attempting them. The best part was that there were no twists – the examiner asked direct questions.

·         The lengthy part of the question paper was the 4 markers.

·         Even the questions that were given as internal choices were easy; this enhanced the exam’s fairness and flexibility.

·         Some parts of the question paper were lengthy but those students who would have mastered time management would have had time to complete it on time leaving some time for revision as well.

·         The exam content strictly adhered to the NCERT syllabus, with a predictive approach to question selection, reinforcing the exam’s alignment with expected educational standards.

“Overall this year’s question was on the expected lines. There was nothing that was out of the syllabus. Students who would have thoroughly prepared according to the course prescribed are expected to do well,” Goel said in conclusion.
