Apeejay’s Eco Club leads environmental awareness trip to a wetland

The Eco Club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar, recently undertook a significant initiative to promote environmental conservation. Led by Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, the club organised a visit to Hari ke Patan, North India’s largest wetland, involving 80 enthusiastic students.

The primary objective of the visit was to acquaint students with the rich biodiversity of Hari ke Patan and instill in them an appreciation for nature’s significance in our lives. Dr. Dhingra emphasised the importance of sensitising students to environmental issues and motivating them to actively contribute to conservation efforts.

During the visit, students immersed themselves in the serene beauty of Hari ke Patan, relishing the opportunity to connect with nature firsthand. They explored the wetland area, marveling at the diverse flora and fauna it harbours. Through interactive sessions and guided tours, students gained insights into the ecological importance of wetlands and the urgent need for their preservation.

Dr. Dhingra commended the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, the Incharge of the Eco Club, along with Ms. Lovepreet Kaur, Ms. Anuradha, Dr. Pooja, and Mr. Gurvinder Singh, for meticulously organising the visit. Their dedication ensured that students had a memorable and enlightening experience, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental issues.

The visit to Hari ke Patan served as a catalyst for raising awareness about environmental conservation among students. By witnessing firsthand the beauty and fragility of natural ecosystems, students were inspired to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and become stewards of the environment.

Dr. Dhingra reiterated the college’s commitment to nurturing environmentally responsible citizens and providing platforms for experiential learning in environmental science. The success of the visit underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering a culture of environmental consciousness among the youth.
