Excursions are invaluable for students, transcending classroom confines to offer real-world learning. They stimulate curiosity, fostering a hands-on understanding of diverse subjects. Exposure to new environments cultivates adaptability and cultural awareness. In fact, practical experiences enhance comprehension and retention, making academic concepts more tangible. Additionally, excursions nurture interpersonal skills and teamwork, promoting holistic development. They are also a gateway to experiential education, instilling a love for learning beyond textbooks. All in all, excursions lay the foundation for well-rounded individuals, equipping students with practical knowledge and life skills crucial for success in their academic journey and future endeavours.

Knowing the importance of the same, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS) at Apeejay Stya University in Gurugram recently organised an excursion trip for its students to the Surajkund Mela. Held in Faridabad, this unique Mela is a showcase of richness and diversity of the handicrafts, handlooms and cultural fabric of India and is one of the largest crafts fairs in the world.

A total of 18 Apeejay students spent a thrilling time going around  from one stall to another and experiencing the richness of art and creativity displayed. They also tried a variety of ethnic cuisines from around the world .

Sharing her experience, a first-year B Pharm student Sakshi Pundit said, “ASU organised this mini trip to Surajkund Mela, which was a super fun experience.  Surajkund is such a lively and vibrant place with so much to offer . We got to do lots of things like shopping for cool stuff, dancing to music, eating yummy street food, and swinging on jhulas. It was like a big party with friends and our teachers and lots of exciting things to see and do.”
