After two years of studying at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Greater Kailash, Daivik Garg’s mother Dr Rachita Gupta was highly impressed with his son’s overall progress. So, she decided to enrol her child in Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. In an interview, Dr Gupta, senior consultant, radiologist, Max Hospital, shares why she is “very happy” with the school’s ongoing online classes. Edited excerpts:

How long has Daivik been studying at Apeejay?

My son Daivik has been a part of the Apeejay family for five years now. He started with Rhythms Kinderworld, Greater Kailash, for nursery and kindergarten, following which he moved to Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.

How different is the learning process at Apeejay Schools?

Rhythms Kinderworld was great. A friend had recommended the school. The way the teachers managed the children in the classroom, not to mention their tutoring, was very nice. I noticed a marked difference between my child and the others of his age at that time, especially in terms of his improvement in communication skills, confidence, overall grooming, and so on. We wanted our child to continue at Apeejay, which is why we picked the one at Panchsheel Park.

What is your experience of the online classes?

The teachers have been putting in a lot of effort. Apeejay Schools were the first to start full-fledged online interactive classes in the pandemic, and I really appreciate that. The classes begin on time every day, at 8 am, which ensures that a child’s routine is not disturbed in any way. The classes have also been going very smoothly. As a parent, I got to know a lot of things about Daivik’s curriculum which I would not have known without these classes. I am very happy with the online classes.

The pandemic taught us to use technology in classrooms. Do you think teachers at Apeejay made appropriate use of advanced methodologies to educate the children?

It was a learning process for both the teachers and the students. Having said that, the teachers attempted everything possible to make the most of online classes. They have also picked up the technology and have adapted over time.

What is your opinion on the activity-based learning approach which Apeejay promotes?

Students are constantly participating in multiple activities. All subjects taught in class involve art—integrated learning. However, they benefited more back when they did the activities in school, without any assistance from the internet.

Do teachers encourage extra-curricular activities?

Daivik recently won a prize in an activity titled “Why I want to be the next space tourist”. He also plays Casio pretty well and he frequently performs at school events. Teachers help students explore their talents and develop their interest in them by encouraging participation.

How have the interactions with the teaching staff been like?

Personally, the interactions with the teachers have been very nice. If I have some queries, I just drop a message. They always get back on time and try to help as much as possible.
