Apeejay schools raise awareness about the overall health and well-being of students

At the event, experts advised students about the importance of healthy eating, outdoor activities, and socio-emotional well-being

Health in all its aspects –mental, emotional and physical is important for a happy and stress-free life. If we are healthy, we can contribute our best to what we do. However, at present, the problems faced by humans are changing, and so are the ways to keep ourselves healthy.

To raise awareness about global health issues, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared April 7 as World Health Day. The day encourages people to take action towards better health by promoting healthy living and disease prevention.

On this occasion, Apeejay Schools, Tanda Road and Model Town in Jalandhar and Panchsheel Park in Delhi recently organised a special programme to raise awareness about the overall health and well-being of students. During the programme, the schools highlighted the theme of World Health Day 2023 “Health for All: Everyone, Everywhere.”

At Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park the event was organised in the school auditorium for the students of classes I-V and virtually for the nursery and KG students. Eminent doctors, Dr Shilpi Singh, General Physician at Lok Nayak Hospital and Dr Gaurav Sapra, ENT Surgeon at Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad addressed the students.

The guests were welcomed by Mr Sandeep Singh Kathuria, principal of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park and Ms Shweta Oberoi, Primary Incharge. Both the doctors highlighted the importance of healthy eating, outdoor activities, mindful sleep and socio-emotional well-being.

At the event, the students of classes VI-XII showcased their artistic talents across a plethora of topics, which were suggested by the Department of Science. Mr Pranjal Gupta, TGT Science supervised the activity. 

Similarly, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar promoted the day by organising a seminar for their students. The resource person, Dr Jatinder Singh, MD Paediatrics addressed the students and highlighted the importance of healthy living.

He stressed the need why good health is crucial for individuals to lead a fulfilling life. He said, “A healthy lifestyle allows us to pursue our goals and dreams, perform our daily activities, and contribute to society. Health also plays a significant role in economic development. A healthy workforce is essential for productivity and growth.”  The resource person also highlighted the need to eliminate fast and processed food from the daily lifestyle.

While expressing her views, Ms Madhuri Lakhanpal, Sports Teacher at Apeejay School, Model Town said, “Promoting world health isn’t just about diet and exercise, it’s about promoting mental health as well. Not only this, Just as cars need fuel to run properly, our bodies need healthy food to function at their best. It’s important that students learn how nutrition affects their health and how eating the proper foods can not only make them feel better but keep them healthy. So keeping this in mind an informative session was initiated by Apeejay School Model Town Jalandhar to enlighten children about this.”


At the same time, Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar provided an opportunity to their students of pre-primary wing to learn about health and well-being in a fun and engaging way. The kids performed various activities and learnt the importance of healthy eating.

The students of the nursery brought healthy food in their tiffins. Meanwhile, tiny tots of classes LKG and UKG talked about the important roles of vitamin A and vitamin B enriched fruits and vegetables. The students were also told about the benefits of adopting healthy behaviours and lifestyles.
