When the going gets tough, the tough get going! The last two years of the Covid-19 health crisis has brought a tectonic shift in the process of teaching-learning across the globe. Overcoming these challenges with the undying hunger and steady commitment to work hard and achieve success, Apeejay School, Model Town in Jalandhar is set to expand its infrastructure and education for students till class 10. What started as a feeder school to the first Apeejay Group School in Jalandhar at Mahavir Marg in the year 1981, is now a full-fledged institution owing to its indomitable growth and perseverance.

Carrying forward the vision of its Founder-Chairman, Late Dr. Stya Paul, who strived to impart quality and value-based education to students, his only daughter Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia and members of the Apeejay management have contributed to make this institution a ‘living reality.’ The school is now affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi vide Affiliation No.1631449 with aiming to deliver a five-part portrait of robust teacher support, active family engagement, supportive environmental conditions, strong social and emotional student growth and school-wide climate of high expectations.
Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Rakhi Chottrra, mother of Nyesha, a class 6 student at the school says, “The school always ensures overall development of the child. By introducing new classes till a higher grade, the school is now taking things to the next level. I would like to appreciate the efforts of Principal Ma’am, Ms. Sinia Sajith, who is managing the school really well.”
Looking back at the growth of the school, Sajith says, “The past year has been full of challenges. It was a year of observation and learning, and during this time, our number one priority was to keep the school open and help students learn. Prompt communication was our focus in order to support students in this tough time. To provide state-of-the-art Science, Arts and Mathematics laboratories to our students, we are currently working on our infrastructure, keeping in mind all the necessary facilities required to grow into a larger entity.”

“We conducted special sessions, talks and webinars for teachers throughout Covid-19 for skill-enhancement and capacity building. Our uniqueness, individuality, and life experience moulds us into fascinating beings. This change will be a challenge — but an exciting one. I am looking forward to seeing what we can learn through this and how we can help each other grow.”

During Covid-19, the school had taken special measures to ensure the smooth functioning of the teaching-learning process through pedagogical techniques. Students in online schooling were encouraged to ask questions, think critically and engage with concepts constructively. Apeejay School, Model Town had introduced a range of activities and programmes such as Reading Programmes, Special Lectures and Workshops, Spell Bee competitions, Life-skill development initiatives, etc. to enhance students’ skills and speaking abilities. In the pandemic, the health and well-being of the students were catered to through Buddy Programme, Yoga Instructor Programme and Emotional-Wellbeing sessions.
To inspire the spirit of festivity among students, Apeejay School, Model Town has been a frontrunner in celebrating occasions such as Diwali, Dussehra, Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Birthday with parents, students and grandparents. A school where learning never stops, even for its teaching fraternity, Sajith says, “We conducted special sessions, talks and webinars for teachers throughout Covid-19 for skill-enhancement and capacity building. Our uniqueness, individuality, and life experience moulds us into fascinating beings. This change will be a challenge — but an exciting one. I am looking forward to seeing what we can learn through this and how we can help each other grow.”
