Apeejay professors win Indian patent 

The patent title is ‘AI-Driven defensive cyber security strategy analysis and recommendation system using IOT and its method’

Yet another achievement for the professors of Apeejay. Assistant Professor Anuj Kumar from Apeejay School of Management, Dwarka and Dr. Nishu Ayedee, visiting faculty at Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), Dwarka have recently been granted an Indian patent. The patent title is: ‘AI-Driven defensive cyber security strategy analysis and recommendation system using IOT and its method’

This patent was filed on 9 March 2023 along with the other academicians who were part of this team. It took ten months for the grant since the time of filing. Prof. Anuj Kumar is the first faculty from ASM, Dwarka, who received grant for patent both from Government of India and from South African Government (previously).

Sharing his thoughts, Prof. Anuj Kumar expressed, “It always feels nice to achieve such a feat for Apeejay School of Management. This has been a collaborative effort and a joint achievement with one of my co-inventors Dr. Nishu Ayedee, who is a visiting faculty at AIMC.”

This patent highlights a data collection module configured to collect data from IoT devices and sensors that are connected to a network. It also talks about a pre-processing module to
pre-process the collected data to remove noise and anomalies; a feature extraction module to extract features to identify relevant patterns, wherein the feature extraction module includes a feature selector for selecting relevant features, a dimensionality reduction module for reducing dimensionality of the features, and a feature transformer for transforming the features; an AI engine to train an AI engine using the extracted features and a dataset of known cyber threats and defensive strategies; and an analysis and recommendation module to analyse real-time network data using the AI engine to detect cyber threats and recommend a customised defensive cyber-security strategy to the user based on the analysis.
