According to research, a healthy mind lives in a healthy body. This means introducing children to different physical activities from an early age which in turn can have a positive impact on their physical and mental well-being. A child who inculcates physical activity in his/her daily life tends to manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and be more energetic.

Regular exercise can also uplift a child’s mood. So, children must be introduced to physical activity like swimming, running, skipping and yoga to name a few for a better lifestyle.

Keeping this thought in mind, Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Jalandhar recently celebrated its Annual Sports Day — FunAthon — for the young learners and their parents. The event was organised to encourage toddlers to stay fit for their overall development.

At the sports event, different races were organised for the kids and their fathers included balloon race, hurdle race, hoola-hoop race to name a few. Sports activities were also held for the mothers, who came especially to cheer the fathers. All the students and their parents were very energetic and enthusiastic throughout the event.

Malkiat Singh, principal of Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld and Apeejay School, Model Town graced the occasion. Nidhi Ghai, Headmistress pre-primary, Namrata Sharma, Headmistress primary along with teachers were also present at the event.

Speaking about her experience at the event, Ghai said: “The FunAthon was a lively event. It was specially organised for the kids and their parents. Through sports activities, tiny tots got the opportunity to bond with their fathers. These games encouraged them to be involved in physical activity. They were all very enthusiastic about taking part in such activities.”

Maninder Kaur, Social Science educator at Apeejay School, Model Town said, “Sports not only keep us physically and mentally strong but builds our immunity as well. Physical activity may also help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways. Sports is the best way to release stress and keep us happy. So learning through play can help children a lot in their overall development.”

Sahil Syal, father of Dhruv Syal said, “Sports Day was perfectly organised and Dhruv enjoyed it a lot.” Manmeet Singh, father of Revaan Singh expressed his gratitude towards the school and said, “The Sports Day event was a wonderful event, the parents and children were actively engaged in fun games and races.”

Sports Day was well organised. Great efforts by the teachers,” said another student, Ayaan’s father. Meanwhile, Khushkaran’s mom said, “The games were so interesting. Had so much fun with my little one.”

Seher’s mother expressed her gratitude by saying, “My daughter enjoyed a lot with her father on Sports Day that the school organised. She was so happy to see him win. The school organised games for mothers as well and we enjoyed them to the fullest.”

“Such a great event organised by Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld. It was great to call fathers on this event on a relaxing Saturday. Thanks to the team of Apeejay rhythms Kinderworld,” said Shaurya’s mom.

At the end of the competition, children were awarded medals and certificates. The young learners and their parents cherished the event and took home a bagful of good memories.
