The pre-Primary Wing at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar celebrated a dual event — marking the importance of grandparents amalgamated with the festive spree of Ganesh Chaturthi. The day was celebrated to illuminate the quintessential service of the grandparents in building family values and the richness of the traditional festivals.
The programme started with the grandparents being welcomed, for which their invaluable contribution to child rearing was duly recognised. The performance of Ganesh Vandana was solemn, which sanctified the environment with prayers for the well-being of every family. Along with stealing hearts, it intermingled the spiritual with the familial to add value to the day.
Creative Engagements and Cultural Immersion
The most enjoyable activity was the Pooja Thali Decoration; the grandparents along with the grandchildren prepared colourful thalis. This brought out the creativeness and also shared the art of making thalis with the young generation. The school also prepared a special video montage on the emotional moments shared between grandparents and their grandchildren, which helped strengthen bonds between generations.
This was followed by an energetic bhajan antakshari session, where the young ones and elders filled the atmosphere with melodious devotion songs. One of the most fascinating moments of the event was a recitation by Aadhya, one of the talented UKG students. She enacted the Ganesh Stuti with great devotion. Her immense talent was recognised when she was awarded the prestigious IPBR भारतीयअनमोलरतन 2024 by the Indian Proud Book of Records. The five-and-a-half-year-old was congratulated for this achievement by Coordinator Ms Deepti Kaushal.
The Mythological Question Round further engaged participants by dispensing interesting information about Hindu mythology. This informative session was both educational and entertaining. It gave way to vibrancy in the interaction between all participants.
A Parting Gesture of Love
As the programme came to an end, the grandchildren presented a ‘token of love’ to their grandparents; it represented the relations between the generations. The day finally concluded with the aarti of Lord Ganesh. Everybody was deluged with a sense of unity and spiritual satisfaction.
Overall, the two events at Apeejay School, Tanda Road — celebrating Grandparents Day and Ganesh Chaturthi — turned out to be much more than just a programme; it was a profound homage to the roots and relations which shape our lives. It was a day when tradition and togetherness were celebrated to create lifetime memories in the hearts of all who participated.
