At Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, the classrooms were buzzing with colour, creativity, and conversation during an Inter-house Poster and Literary Competition. The theme: AI: Smart Tech or Silent Threat was anything but ordinary. It invited students to look beyond the surface and explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence on our lives. What followed was a powerful blend of expression and awareness.
This wasn’t a simple poster-making activity or a typical essay contest. Each house took a distinct approach, diving into the promises and pitfalls of AI. Some showcased the convenience and speed that AI brings to daily life — think smart assistants, data tools, and automation. Others examined the concerns around job losses, data misuse, and growing reliance on machines. The visuals and written pieces reflected both excitement and caution.
Art meets insight
In the poster segment, students translated complex thoughts into striking visuals. Vivid colours, sharp contrasts, and strong symbols caught every eye. Robots standing at crossroads, human hands fading into code, and headlines torn between ‘Innovation’ and ‘Invasion’ made bold statements.
Meanwhile, the literary entries carried weight. Students used essays, poems, and short narratives to voice their perspectives. Some imagined future societies run by algorithms; others questioned the ethics behind AI decisions. Many focused on the need for responsible use and digital awareness.

Why it mattered
Events like these go beyond competition. They teach students to ask hard questions, not to take technology at face value, and to speak their minds with purpose. At a time when AI is part of everyday conversation, giving students a platform to engage with it critically is more than relevant—it’s necessary.
The competition also echoed Apeejay School’s larger vision: Preparing students not just to adapt to the world, but to shape it. By turning a timely theme into a platform for exploration, the school succeeded in merging creativity with responsibility. For these young minds, the question isn’t just whether AI is smart or risky; it’s how we choose to use it. And that’s the real takeaway.
