Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, took a significant step towards strengthening its international academic engagement by hosting leadership representatives from Wayne State University, Detroit, USA, and Acumen for a strategic discussion on global academic collaboration. The meeting focused on building long-term academic partnerships and creating opportunities for student and faculty development through international exposure and institutional exchange.

The delegation was led by Fareed Y. Shalhout, Executive Director of Strategic Global Engagement and Operations at Wayne State University. He met with ASM’s Internationalization Team and Academic Programme Heads to explore avenues for strengthening higher education ties between India and the United States.

Representatives from the meeting described the interaction as a milestone in connecting higher education pathways between the two countries. They noted that it provided academic leaders with a shared platform to co-design world-class initiatives and explore opportunities for meaningful institutional collaboration.

The discussions centred on establishing structured, high-impact opportunities for students and faculty. Key areas included short-term global immersion programmes, bilateral student exchange initiatives and joint faculty research projects. These proposed avenues aim to broaden international learning experiences, encourage cross-cultural understanding and strengthen academic cooperation.

Dr Ishita Adhikari highlighted the potential of the proposed engagement, stating, “By opening doors to Wayne State University’s research ecosystem, we are paving the way for collaborative degree pathways and executive education programs that align directly with global standards.”

The discussions also explored the possibilities of developing collaborative academic pathways and executive education programmes that reflect international standards and respond to evolving educational and professional requirements. Such initiatives could help strengthen research engagement, facilitate knowledge exchange and expose the academic community to diverse global perspectives.

Dr Vernika Agarwal reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to expanding international learning opportunities, stating, “We remain committed to providing our students and faculty with unparalleled exposure to international research, industry ecosystems, and cultural exchanges.”

The strategic interaction marks an important step in ASM’s efforts to cultivate a global outlook across its academic programmes. By exploring potential partnerships with international institutions, the management school aims to create opportunities that connect academic learning with global research, industry practices and cross-cultural experiences.

The engagement lays the groundwork for further deliberations on formalising collaborative pathways and institutional mobility, reinforcing ASM’s commitment to preparing students and faculty to engage confidently with an increasingly interconnected world.
