Harshita DasAs per industry survey reports, the drones market worldwide is projected to grow by 2.26% (2024-2028) resulting in a market volume of US$4.7bn in 2028. Thus, it is certain that the demand for professionals equipped with drone technology will only be growing. Drones have emerged as powerful tools with applications ranging from surveillance and agriculture to filmmaking and disaster management. Hence, educating students about drone technology will not only enhance their skills but also prepare them for future opportunities in this rapidly evolving field. And in today’s tech-driven era, where innovation is key to progress, workshops like drone development stand crucial.
Thus, understanding the need of the hour, the School of Engineering & Technology at Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram, recently organised a two-day drone development workshop in the university premises.
The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by esteemed dignitaries including Ms. Nisha Berlia, Mr. Sagar Gupta, CEO and Founder of Indian Robotics Solutions), Professor Moin Uddin, Distinguished Professor, Prof Chetan Chaudhary (Registrar), and Prof A.K. Vice Chancellor Vijay Vir Singh and Professor Moinuddin elaborated on the importance of drone technology in today’s world, highlighting its diverse applications and rapid growth. Mr. Sagar Gupta shared insights from his journey in the drone industry and emphasised the bright future it holds.
The workshop provided students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in drone development. They learned about different types of drones, component selection criteria, and the legal aspects of drone operation in India. Practical sessions included assembly of GPS and flight controllers, culminating in successful drone trials.
More than 30 participants from across Delhi-NCR attended the workshop. Students expressed gratitude for the enriching learning experience, acknowledging the workshop’s role in enhancing their skills and understanding of drone technology.
