Recognising a student’s talent, whether in academics or extracurricular activities, is essential for fostering self-esteem and motivation. Encouragement from teachers, mentors, and peers plays a significant role in motivating students to further develop their skills and pursue their interests. Personalised feedback, acknowledging the uniqueness of each student’s talents, also helps in nurturing their potential. This tailored approach ensures that all students feel valued and inspired to reach their full potential.

Meet one such student – Kiranjit Kaur, who has passed her class II with flying colours at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, and is all set to go into class III and shine bright in the academic year 2024-25. In a candid interview, she talks about her role model and favourite teacher among other things.

Tell me a little about yourself.

I am Kiranjit Kaur. I am eight years old. I’m a super curious and enthusiastic student, always on the lookout for new things to learn. I love asking questions and exploring different answers, kind of like being a detective in a world of knowledge! I will now be going to class III. I look forward to my new class; I am excited to learn new and interesting things.

What is the daily routine like for you?

My day is always very busy. I get up early at 6 am starting; I get ready to go to school. Once I am back, I eat lunch and go to sleep by 2 pm for a couple of hours.  When I get up, I do any work that has been given and revise what has been taught in the class. I also sleep early.

What is the best thing that you like about the school you are studying in?

The best thing about my school is how it feels like a big, warm hug; the teachers here encourage us all to grow and help others. We are taught new and interesting things which I enjoy.

What are your favorite subjects?

I love English! I am doing my best to learn new words so that I can improve my written and spoken English. I want to be able to speak this language easily. I like this subject because each new word I learn is so different – be it how to pronounce it, or spell it. This makes me feel super happy and smart.

When you learn something new in class, how do you feel?

Learning new stuff makes me feel like I am on top of the world; I feel as if I have entered a magical world and never want to leave. Reading English storybooks is what I love the most. I love the way they take me into a world that is amazing.

Who is your role model?

My mother is my role model. She is always there to help me with what I need. She is super amazing and works hard to make my life easy.

Who is your favorite teacher?

My English ma’am is the best! She makes everything so magical; she makes everything seem simple and super interesting.
