Acknowledging a student’s abilities, whether academic or in activities beyond the classroom, is crucial for building their confidence and drive. Support from educators, mentors, and classmates is key in inspiring students to enhance their capabilities and follow their passions. Customised feedback that recognises each student’s distinct talents contributes to cultivating their potential. Such a personalised method guarantees that every student feels appreciated and encouraged to achieve their utmost capacity.

Meet two such students –Daksh Malhotra and Agaaz Kaur Wahid – of Apeejay School, Tanda Road who recently cleared their class I and are all set to embark on a new chapter in their lives as they move ahead into a higher class.

Daksh, a delightful seven-and-a-half-year-old, a football enthusiast, and a Ronaldo fan shared insights about his school life and personal interests. “I am going into class II and therefore, I am all grown-up – it is cool to be all of seven! I am excited to learn new things in the higher class,” he shared.

Praising the kindness and care of his teachers; he cherishes the friendships he has formed at school and said that these connections make his school experience even more enjoyable. A typical day for him starts with a healthy routine, followed by school and homework.

“I love to play all kinds of sports but football is my favourite. At home, Daksh is mostly self-reliant with his studies but receives occasional help from his mother. English and Hindi are subjects that I like most because of my interest in language and communication,” the young man said and added that Spider-Man movies capture his imagination.

“This is because he is a superhero and has very nice powers! Who doesn’t want to climb a straight wall or swing from one building to another? I also enjoy painting and other extracurricular activities,” Daksh said, who looked up to his grandfather, a doctor, and his father, a jeweller, as his role models.

While all his teachers are great and he likes them equally, Arti ma’am, Gagan ma’am, and Pallavi ma’am are among his favourites.

For Agaaz Kaur, the favourite teacher is Nisha ma’am since she explains the subject nicely and she loves all the students equally. “She takes care of each one of us very nicely,” said the seven-year-old, who loves drawing, painting and dancing.

Her favourite subject is English because she loves to read storybooks. “My favourite book is The Brown Bear. My favourite character is Shinchang because he is very naughty,” Agaaz Kaur said and added that when she gets stuck doing her schoolwork, it is her mother who is there to help her.

She also considers her mother and father as her role models since they are always there for her and ready to help. “When I have free time, I love to draw different things because when I draw them it makes me happy when I see my drawing come alive,” Agaaz Kaur said in conclusion.
