Siya, recently placed as a Branch Manager Trainee at Muthoot FinCorp from Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus, (AIMETC) Jalandhar has always been intrigued by how organisations operate, particularly in the areas of finance and human resources. While finance appeals to her analytical mindset and love for numbers, HR draws her toward understanding people, nurturing talent, and fostering teamwork. During her search for the right institution, she discovered that Apeejay offered the ideal blend of academic rigor and real-world exposure. With its focus on holistic learning, case studies, and industry interaction, AIMETC helped her confidently prepare for a role like this. Read edited excerpts:
How did you feel when you got the news of placement? What is the position you have joined for?
When I got the news of my placement, I was honestly overjoyed and felt really proud. It was a moment of happiness and relief because all the hard work, preparation, and guidance from my teachers finally paid off. I also felt grateful to my family and institute for constantly motivating me.
I’ve been selected for the position of Branch Manager Trainee at Muthoot Fincorp. I’m really excited about this role because it will help me learn both the financial and managerial aspects of the business, and give me an opportunity to take responsibility, interact with customers, and grow as a professional.
How did you prepare for the placement? How did your teachers at Apeejay help you pass the process?
To prepare for the placement, I focused on improving both my subject knowledge and communication skills. I revised the core concepts of finance and HR, practiced aptitude tests, and also participated in mock interviews and group discussions to build my confidence.
My teachers at Apeejay played a big role in my preparation. They guided me on how to present myself professionally, helped me understand the company’s expectations, and gave constant feedback after mock sessions. They also motivated me to stay confident and positive throughout the process. Honestly, their support and encouragement made a huge difference and helped me clear each round successfully.
What according to you is important when going for a job interview?
In my opinion, the most important things when going for a job interview are confidence, preparation, and a positive attitude. You should have a clear understanding of the company and the role you’re applying for. Good communication skills and body language also make a strong impression. It’s equally important to be honest about your strengths and areas of improvement — interviewers appreciate sincerity. Lastly, having a calm and positive mindset helps you handle questions better and show that you’re genuinely eager to learn and grow with the organisation.
Tips to stay calm during a placement interview
To stay calm during a placement interview, I think the first thing is to prepare well — when you know your basics and the company profile, it naturally gives you confidence.
Before entering the room, I take a deep breath and remind myself that the interviewers are not there to scare me, they just want to know me better. Maintaining a positive mindset really helps.
Also, listening carefully to the questions, taking a moment before answering, and keeping a genuine smile makes you look confident and relaxed. And most importantly, I try to see it as a learning experience rather than just a test — that helps reduce the pressure.
