Amit Maru’s son Vivaan joined Apeejay School, Saket, in kindergarten and is now in class I. The father, who works as Principal Regulatory Affairs Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, says the school has lived up to his expectations in every aspect, from ensuring his child’s safety and comfort to adopting effective methods of teaching and learning.

Edited excerpts:

Why did you pick Apeejay for Vivaan?

Vivaan was enrolled in the school in KG. I searched for good schools around Saket and that’s when my friends, colleagues, and some neighbours gave good feedback about Apeejay School, Saket. I was aware of Apeejay since the time I was in college. So, after some research, we concluded this would be the best place for our son.

We had a very good interview with the school committee at the time of my son’s admission. The teachers were very polite and made us very comfortable. They came across as well-experienced professionals. We were elated when the school confirmed my son’s admission.

How does the school ensure children’s safety and security?

One of our first concerns was the safety of our child. At Apeejay, the security staff is very humble and very responsible. The staff takes very good care of the students. They make sure that every child feels comfortable when they step inside the premises. At the end of the day, the teachers also escort the children back to their parents.

How has the curriculum at Apeejay impacted Vivaan?

The teaching practices at Apeejay are innovative and tailored for students’ maximum growth and to make them ready for the future. My son is very attached to his teachers and values their advice and opinion. The teachers are kind, patient, and very disciplined.

At the same time, the school focuses on inculcating good values and ethics in children and teaching them about their rich culture. I am a fan of the school’s morning assembly, in which children are taught about humanity. Moreover, the school organises a variety of co-curricular activities from time to time. The teachers send many notifications and letters to parents to get their kids to participate. These activities build children’s confidence and teach them new skills.

Are you able to share concerns about your child’s development with teachers?

The school organises parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) from time to time, during which the teachers give ample time to every parent to discuss issues. They share the child’s progress report and also address parents’ questions. They rightly identify the strengths and weaknesses of a child and communicate to parents. At the same time, they tell us what we need to do as parents to contribute to our child’s development.
