Edited excerpts from an interview:
How would you describe your journey at Apeejay?
My entire schooling has been at Apeejay. I had a wonderful journey and the teachers played an important role in that. I enjoyed every day of school, and I will always cherish the memories.
How did you react when you got to know you’ve won the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values?
I was excited when I got to know I had been nominated for the award. It was my goal to win the award ever since I saw my seniors winning it. The selection process for the award, which comprised a written exam and an interview, was exciting. Coincidentally, the verdict was announced on the day I gave a speech at school on the topic: “Soaring High is My Nature”. I was very happy.
What are some of the human values that guide your life?
Every human value is important, however, there are some basic values that differentiates a human from an animal. Discipline, honesty, and being trustworthy are some of the values that I consider most important. Discipline is what makes a person different from others. Again, one might feel it is easier to lie in a particular situation, but they should remember that truth wins in the long run.
What role did your school and family play in instilling these good values in you?
As we grow, our surroundings and the people we encounter all play a role in shaping our lives. My parents, teachers, friends, and everyone I have met played an equally important role in shaping my personality.
How do these values impact your relationship/interaction with peers?
It is important to respect everyone. Only then will they respect you in return.
Who or what is your source of inspiration?
Self-improvement is key, in my opinion, and that is what I try to do—I strive to become a better version of myself every day.
