Schools play a vital role in shaping the character, values, and skills of students beyond academic achievement. “In addition to imparting knowledge, schools should strive to instill a range of qualities that promote personal growth, social responsibility, and lifelong success,” expresses Prakriti Chourasia whose daughter Pavani recently gave her class XII CBSE Board exam from Apeejay School, Pitampura.
Excerpts from the interview
How has Pavani’s journey been in school?
It was a pleasant journey for my child when I visited the school recently, I was feeling overwhelmed knowing that now I won’t come here as often as I used to. It felt like yesterday that my daughter was in the nursery and now she has passed from the school.
What are her dreams and aspirations?
She is soon going to take her CUET exam to get a good college of her choice and then she will decide which stream to pursue further.
How are the teachers here?
All of them are seriously wonderful. I would like to especially thank the senior elementary-level teachers (XI and XII). They have been extremely helpful whenever Pavani approached them with any queries. There is not a single negative I have to say for the teachers here.
How much do you agree with the adage – that school is the second home for a child?
I have seen immense growth in her during the 14 years she has spent in this school. When I admitted her into the nursery, she was a quiet and introverted child and now there is a full-fledged holistic development in her personality. This school provided her with opportunities mixed with – experience, exposure, and participation.
Any special memory you remember from school?
Yes, I recall the Annual Appreciation Day preparation, it was the most joyous time for me. And my daughter was so happily and actively involved in making it a successful show. The whole school was surrounded by good spirits during this time when students were bubbling with magical energy.
What is your parenting mantra?
We are very open with my daughter. Since my daughter is very expressive and shares everything related to school and her life, we are more like friends to her or believe to be so. We always encourage our daughter to ask questions about anything and we then guide her through it.
