Their two-year-old son, Rishaan Bhattacharyya, is studying in Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, one of the best preschools in south Delhi, Greater Kailash II. In a candid interview, Tandrani shares her school experience so far. Edited excerpts:
What made you pick Apeejay?
My husband is an alumnus of Apeejay School – Panchsheel Park, so he was quite aware of the group ethos and the quality of education that’s being imparted in Apeejay schools. Overall, he had a great learning experience at school. Hence, it was an easy decision to go with Apeejay. Also, the preschool is located just a stone’s throw away from our house.
What are the expectations of parents from a preschool?
A preschool helps prepare a child for formal education and classroom teaching. It also helps in a child’s emotional, social and personal growth and development. The environment provides plenty of opportunities to learn how to make friends, cooperate, listen, and build social skills. Moreover, if both parents are working, a preschool offers a conducive setting for kids to remain engaged in a meaningful way. I am happy that the schools have reopened for physical learning.
How has your experience been till now?
Prior to Rishaan’s admission, we had a healthy interaction with the teachers and Principal, Ms. Ms. Komal Nathani, and we were assured by the faculty that the school will take care of all aspects of my child’s development. Though Rishaan has just completed a month in Apeejay, I am happy to see the positive work being done on the ground. Rishaan is in a great space, he hasn’t cried even once while going to the school. He has started learning how to communicate. He has slowly begun to recognise, comprehend and speak new words. He has also become more open and confident while mingling with others. He is doing a lot of activities like dancing, speech therapy, colouring, painting, etc. Talking about teachers, they keep us in loop about the progress made by kids and are readily available to answer our queries or doubts.
