Choosing the right school is of utmost importance as it plays a crucial role in shaping a child’s academic, social, and overall development. The right school ensures quality education, which forms the foundation for a child’s future success. Therefore, parents leave no stone unturned when it comes to doing their bit. Meet Ramakant Upadhyay, whose daughter, Saanvi, has recently gone in class 1 at Apeejay School, Saket.

“When Saanvi was old enough to join a formal school, my wife and I sat down and did a lot of Internet research. We made a list of the top schools in South Delhi. We spoke to family and friends. They said that Apeejay Schools were very good. But we didn’t go by hearsay. It was only after we were satisfied that we went ahead and applied at the school,” Upadhyay said.

Excerpts from the interview.

How has your experience been with the school till date?

Overall, it has been a good experience. We are happy with the progress that my daughter has been making. She is a bit shy and therefore, doesn’t push herself when it comes to participating in co-curricular activities that the school has hosted in the last one year. We hope that it will change this year and her teacher Nikita ma’am will help in this regard.

What is the teaching methodology?

The best part about this school is that it has the perfect mix of academics and interactive teaching methods. Last year, when Saanvi was in KG, her teacher Heena ma’am was really cooperative. My daughter has managed to learn many things in an interactive manner and for this we have to thank the school.

Do you get regular feedback from the teachers?

When Saanvi was in KG, I attended each and every parent-teacher meeting. The feedback that I got was extremely constructive. In case I had any queries, they were addressed in a timely manner. Now that my daughter is in a new class and has a new class teacher, it will take time for everyone concerned to know each other and be in sync to facilitate Saanvi’s learning.

Why did you choose Apeejay?

As I mentioned, I did a lot of research and asked family and friends. I had looked at so many schools in the South Delhi area. I only heard good things about this Apeejay branch – the primary education is the best and the teachers are excellent. Though we live in Chattarpur, we preferred to send her to this school. And so far, the majority of things are good.

How was the admission process?

I would say, it was by far the smoothest at Apeejay. It was all very simple. We had the necessary documents and because it was COVID-19 time, everything was done online. While we were expecting that Saanvi would be interviewed, we had a Zoom call and it was smooth sailing.

What has been your daughter’s learning curve?

My daughter is intelligent. You just have to tell her or show how to do things and she will replicate it to the best of her ability. But because she is shy, she prefers to sit in a corner. Hence, I would like it if the teachers explored her talent; it could be painting/drawing or singing and dancing. Academically, she is doing well. But I would want a holistic development for her and exploring where her interest lies by the teacher would help us a lot.

Would you recommend the school?

Yes, definitely. It is a good school, the teachers are excellent and Saanvi likes to go to school Of course, there are days when she doesn’t want to get up so early in the morning but 99 per cent of the time, she loves the school. The fact that she has made a few friends helps.
