Monica Kohli’s children Noor and Ayaan are studying in classes VIII and III respectively at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar. In a candid chat, the mother, who is working remotely as a consultant at GlobalLogic India Pvt Ltd, praises the school teachers for their relentless efforts to boost children’s all-round growth.

Excerpts:

What made you choose Apeejay Tanda Road?

Noor joined the school in class 1. Being my first child, I was worried about which school to choose and how she would cope. I came to know about Apeejay Tanda Road and how it promotes the right upbringing of children with a perfect balance between academics and extra-curricular activities. Now that Noor has been in the school for a long time, I can confidently say I made the right decision. I am very impressed with the way the teachers conduct classes and boost children’s overall development.

What developments are you seeing in your children?

My daughter has had some significant achievements. She recently won the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values. She is also the head girl. I appreciate the efforts of the teachers and everybody else who supported my daughter. Meanwhile, she has been consistently performing well in exams. She also participates in a number of co-curricular activities like debates, declamation, painting, artwork, and so on, which has boosted her confidence level.

Ayaan, on the other hand, is gradually opening up and involving himself in class activities after being at home due to COVID-19. The teachers have played a major role in this by constantly interacting with the children and engaging them in various events.

Do teachers motivate every student in the class?

I have seen that the teachers are never partial towards any student. They give the same amount of attention to each member of the class. In fact, they motivate those who are relatively weaker to help them improve.

Are teachers helping in concept building and critical thinking rather than rote learning?

I cannot say that the teachers are only concerned about scoring well in exams. Education at Apeejay is wholesome where students are encouraged to think and give their own points of view in the classes. For example, they are made to do exercises where they have to write in their own words.

Are teachers accessible to parents?

The teachers are very cooperative. At any point in time, we can reach out to the teachers with our problem, and they try their best to help us. They give us quick response. We are very happy with the entire staff of Apeejay.
