Students grasp the holistic benefits of industrial visits

Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar organised a highly engaging industrial visit to Netsmartz Academy (Sebiz) in Mohali for students pursuing B.Tech (CSE), MCA, and BCA. The visit saw active participation from around 60 students, accompanied by faculty members Mr. Vikas Kumar and Ms. Guneet from the School of Engineering.

The visit commenced with a warm welcome by Netsmartz Academy representatives, Ms. Simran and Mr. Ankit Sharma, who conducted an insightful session on the cutting-edge technologies and services the organisation specialises in. The students were introduced to real-world applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity, offering them a practical perspective on concepts they study in classrooms.

The session included an overview of industry-relevant certifications that can help students kickstart or enhance their careers in the cybersecurity and AI domains. These certifications included:

• Microsoft: Azure AI Fundamentals, AI Engineer Associate, Data Scientist Associate, Certified Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, and Cybersecurity Architect Expert
• Amazon Web Services (AWS): AI Practitioner (Foundational), Certified Machine Learning Associate & Specialty
• Google: AI Fundamentals, IT Automation with Python, Professional Machine Learning Engineer
• Other Key Certifications: Ethical Hacking Essentials (E(HE)), Digital Forensic Essentials, Cloud Security Essentials, DevSecOps, and SOC Essentials

These credentials were explained in detail, helping students understand the scope, requirements, and benefits of pursuing specialised paths in technology.

Following the sessions, students were taken on a guided tour of the Netsmartz Academy facility, where they explored various departments and interacted with professionals from different technical backgrounds. This immersive experience provided them with a better understanding of organisational structures, workplace environments, and the integration of technology in professional settings.

Students also attended a presentation focusing on emerging technologies and in-demand skills in the tech industry, such as machine learning, cloud computing, cybersecurity frameworks, and data science. The session was particularly helpful in aligning students’ academic pursuits with the evolving requirements of the job market.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, emphasised the significance of such industrial visits in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. He mentioned, “Experiences like these motivate students to stay updated with current industry trends while building professional awareness and networks.” Dr. Bagga further highlighted the holistic benefits of such visits, stating that beyond academic growth, they also promote team bonding, fun, and lifelong memories.
