Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, continues to encourage students to develop their talents and strengthen their communication skills through participation in co-curricular activities. In a recent achievement, two students of the college, Kanishka Mattu and Tanusha Gupta, brought laurels to the institution by delivering an impressive performance at an Inter-College Declamation Competition organised by the Rotary Club of Jalandhar.

Kanishka Mattu, a student of BA Semester III, and Tanusha Gupta, a student of B.Sc. (Economics), Semester I, secured the First Runner-up Trophy as a team. Adding to the college’s achievement, Kanishka also won the First Prize in the individual category, demonstrating her oratory skills and ability to present her thoughts with confidence and conviction.

The competition provided a platform for students to express their perspectives, articulate ideas and showcase their public-speaking abilities. Declamation competitions play an important role in nurturing effective communication, critical thinking, clarity of expression and stage confidence. Such platforms also encourage students to engage with diverse viewpoints, organise their thoughts and present arguments in a compelling manner.

The students’ achievement reflects Apeejay College of Fine Arts’ continued commitment to providing opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. By encouraging participation in literary and cultural competitions, the institution aims to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped with the confidence and skills required to excel in different spheres of life.

Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra congratulated Kanishka Mattu and Tanusha Gupta on their accomplishment. She encouraged them to continue refining their creative abilities and participate in various competitions to gain valuable exposure. She also emphasised that such experiences contribute significantly to students’ personality development and help boost their self-confidence.

Dr Dhingra further appreciated the consistent efforts of Dr Navjot Deol, Head of the PG Department of English, and Dr Raman Dhadra, faculty member in the Department of Punjabi, for their dedication to nurturing students’ skills and helping them hone their craft.

The accomplishment marks another milestone in the college’s efforts to promote holistic education by balancing academic learning with opportunities for creative expression and personal growth. Through active participation in such competitions, students gain the confidence to communicate effectively, take on new challenges and represent their institution at various platforms.

Kanishka and Tanusha’s success highlights the importance of perseverance, mentorship and institutional encouragement in helping young talent flourish. Their achievement serves as an inspiration for fellow students to explore their potential and participate enthusiastically in activities that foster intellectual development, creativity and effective communication.
