For Priyanshu, choosing architecture wasn’t a sudden decision—it was a path built on years of artistic interest, curiosity, and a love for visual design. A 2024 batch pass-out from Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, he is currently pursuing Bachelor of Architecture at The School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal. In this free-flowing conversation, Priyanshu speaks about his school years, his growth in college, and the mindset one needs to succeed in the field of architecture. Read edited excerpts:
So, let us begin with why did you choose architecture as a career path?
Honestly, I’ve always had a thing for designing. Since childhood, I was interested in art, so the idea of pursuing something creative came naturally to me. Architecture just felt like the right blend of logic and design.
So would you say this interest began in your early school years?
Yes, definitely. I’ve been into art and drawing since my childhood. That creative interest just stayed with me over the years.
How were your years at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park? Any memories that stand out?
My school years were great. Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park has a warm, encouraging environment. The teachers, especially in Classes 11 and 12, were very supportive. I was weak in a subject or two, but my class teacher really helped me pull through.
Which were your favourite subjects at school?
My favourites kept changing, but overall, I enjoyed Science and English the most.

You took the science stream, right? Medical or non-medical?
Non-medical. I wanted to pursue architecture but also keep other options open, and science seemed like the right choice for that.
And what extracurricular activities did you enjoy during school?
I used to play volleyball quite often, and sometimes badminton too. In my early school years, I also participated in singing and dancing.
So, now with your first year done, what do you think are some key things to be a good architect?
From what I’ve learned so far—communication skills and out-of-the-box thinking are crucial. The design has to be unique and practical. You have to collaborate a lot and present your ideas clearly. Creativity, of course, is at the heart of it all.
