Model United Nations (MUN) sessions are invaluable for school students as they provide a comprehensive platform for developing various essential skills. These sessions simulate real-world United Nations meetings, allowing students to delve into global issues and diplomacy. Moreover, the primary aim of such sessions is, it help students enhance their public speaking, research, and critical thinking abilities as they prepare and present arguments on complex topics.
Whenever it comes to enhancing student skills, Apeejay Schools are never behind! For the same, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park conducted the sixth edition of the CRUX MUN that took place on July 26-27, 2024.

The edition began with an opening ceremony featuring Mr Satish Upadhyay, Vice-chairman of NDMC, as the chief guest. The event was inaugurated by lighting a ceremonial lamp, symbolising enlightenment and wisdom for the debates ahead.
Ms Surabhi Joshi, the Principal welcomed the delegates, encouraging healthy debates. The ceremony included a captivating choir and dance performance celebrating Lord Shiva and a French musical performance, highlighting the event’s diversity.

A behind-the-scenes video showcased the dedication of the organisers. Mr Upadhyay praised the school’s efforts and emphasised the importance of MUNs in shaping future leaders. He encouraged students to give their best. The Secretary-General, Mr Abbas Hasnain, declared the conference open, saying, “It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.”

CRUX MUN 2024 brought together more than 200 students from various schools, engaging in two days of intense debates and discussions. The conference featured ten committees, each focusing on significant global issues. Delegates demonstrated exceptional diplomacy and negotiation skills, working collaboratively to draft resolutions and address complex international challenges. The event culminated in a valedictory ceremony led by MsmJoshi, alongside members of the secretariat.

The chief guests Mr Chandra Bhushan Sharma, former chairperson of the National Institute of Open Schooling, and Colonel Pandey, an accomplished Army officer with almost 40 years of experience inspired the delegates. Delegates were awarded by the distinguished guests, Principal, and Vice-principal of the school.
In her address, Ms Joshi highlighted the man-making and nation-building traits developed through MUNs. The group choir delivered an anthem of courage, capturing the conference’s high emotions.

An energetic Flamenco dance performance added a vivacious touch to the event. Four months of effort by the organising committee and secretariat culminated successfully. The conference was declared closed with a resounding bang by the Secretary-General.
Overall, the CRUX MUN 2024 marked an enriching experience where students not only gained a deeper understanding of international relations but also developed a sense of responsibility towards global citizenship.
